A worker at a concrete plant was buried up to his ears in 100 tons of crushed limestone and had to breathe through a tube until he was freed.

David McIntire, 29, suffered only minor injuries and was in satisfactory condition Thursday at York Hospital with a bruised right leg. He was trying to free some material in a 50-foot mixing hopper Tuesday when the gravel-sand mixture cascaded out on top of him.

Rescuers dug out McIntire with their hands and small garden spades.
