From Staff and Wire Reports

The U.S. soccer team is still on a two-workouts-a-day training schedule, and the players are using this break from competition to allow injuries to heal.

Midfielder Claudio Reyna suffered a strained right hamstring Wednesday and will be unable to practice until early next week. Trainer Rudy Rudawsky said Reyna has full range of motion and little pain and should be ready to play in the team’s World Cup opener against Switzerland on June 18 at Pontiac, Mich.

“The best thing is he’s young and he will bounce right back,” Rudawsky said.

Thomas Dooley did not work out Friday because of a slight muscle cramp, Kle Cooiman practiced lightly after sitting out a few days because of tendinitis in a knee and Eric Wynalda is still recovering from a throat infection.

U.S. Coach Bora Milutinovic, asked what was the most important thing for the team to do between now and the game against the Swiss, said: “No injuries.”
