MANHATTAN BEACH : $32.8-Million Budget Is OKd by Council

Share

Manhattan Beach will spend about $2.8 million on capital improvements next year that include $250,000 in work to the city’s pier and $100,000 in improvements to tennis courts at Mira Costa High School.

The improvements are included in a $32.8-million budget unanimously approved by the City Council this week for fiscal year 1994-95. The new budget is about 1% more than last year’s budget.

The city anticipates that revenues will decline by about $1 million next year, mainly as a result of cuts in federal transportation funds. But an increase in property tax revenues last year will help offset the decline.

Several positions that were eliminated through attrition last year when the city’s Department of Public Works was reorganized will not be replaced under the new budget.

The budget includes a general fund reserve of $3.2 million.
