SMOOTHER WORLD: County soccer fans headed for the Rose Bowl when the U.S. team plays can take a rally bus sponsored by the Mission Viejo foundation. Round trip to the June 22, June 26 and July 3 contests will each cost $17 per person. . . . “You don’t want to hassle the parking at the Rose Bowl,” says the foundation’s Bill Irvine. “This will be a lot more relaxing and fun.” Buses leave three hours before game time from the parking lot of Fred Newhart Elementary School at 25001 Oso Viejo Road.

A PENNEY PLUS: Cindy Grimsley of Garden Grove had taken her daughter Kayla to a JC Penney store to have her picture taken when she saw the ad for the modeling contest. She knew Kayla was cute, but how about this: Kayla--she just turned 4--has already won a $1,000 college scholarship and a $25,000 contract to model for Wilhelmina in New York. They’re the biggies--Kim Alexis, Jessica Lange, Kevin Costner modeled there. “Our whole family is ecstatic,” says mom Cindy.

IBM COMPATIBLE? Mary Ellen Pascucci was delighted when she persuaded Taco Bell Corp. to donate four classy IBM computers to her children’s Fred Moiola School in Fountain Valley. She thought they’d go to students and teachers. But school district officials grabbed them up for themselves, saying they didn’t fit with Moiola’s “technology plan.” . . . Pascucci, a computer consultant, says she’s disheartened: “If I knew we would end up with this mess, I wouldn’t have solicited the donation.” The district is trying to work something out.
