Thanking Those Who Didn’t Vote

Share

* I’d like to convey my thanks to all the qualified citizens in Orange County and the rest of California who failed to vote in the June 7 elections.

By doing so, those people gave me the opportunity to multiply my personal voting power by a factor of three, at least . . . possibly four. And, since my two adult, voting daughters respect my opinions, they voted the same way I did.

Therefore, I am in the effective (and admirable) position of having cast up to twelve legal votes.

I would think that even the old Chicago political machine probably wasn’t as proficient at influencing results.

Whether these non-voting citizens appreciate my having a more powerful voice than they may never be known, since they probably won’t read this letter even if it is published.

But, let them be warned that their non-participation in the vote leads to a corresponding inability for them to exercise control over future decisions, many of which may severely affect them.
