WORLD CUP USA ’94 / THE FIRST ROUND : Spotlight : NOT A STANDARD FLAG

The U.S. team was greeted outside the Silverdome by a Swiss flag, measuring about 160 by 130 feet, that was hanging from two construction cranes. The flag, embossed with the names of more than 200,000 Swiss fans, was produced as part of a contest sponsored by the Swiss soccer federation and two Swiss banks. The flag weighs about 1,300 pounds and cost about $190,000.
