Man Sentenced for Receiving Stolen Chips

A Garden Grove businessman was sentenced to eight months in jail last week after he was convicted of receiving stolen computer chips.

Santa Clara Superior Court Judge Diane Northway sentenced Mark Roslawski to eight months in jail and two years probation, said Roslawski’s attorney, Stuart D. Kirchick.

Roslawski, who is currently free on his own recognizance but must report to the jail Sept. 12, plans to appeal the sentence, Kirchick said. If he can find a job, Roslawski may qualify for a work-furlough program, where he would work during the day and return to jail at night.

Roslawski contended he didn’t know the Intel Corp. computer chips he was brokering were stolen.

“He’s not pleased,” Kirchick said. “You have no victim here, just a businessman with no criminal history whose life has been totally destroyed.”

Roslawski was arrested in a sting in Santa Clara in October, 1992. He was convicted of receiving stolen goods, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison, but was acquitted on a charge of intent to receive stolen goods.
