Host Families Sought for French Teens

Share

Host families are sought for several French teen-age students who will visit Orange County this summer.

The International Education Forum is looking for at least 13 temporary homes for stays of up to a month.

“They are between ages 14 and 18, ready to practice their English, indulge in some shopping and, most importantly, make a friend in America,” said Lila Brumbeck, coordinator of the county chapter of the International Education Forum.

Families willing to host male students are especially needed, Brumbeck said.

“Pretty much the long-waiting students (for a host family) are boys,” she said. “Families by far are more apt to host a girl than a boy, so despite their strong records in academics, sports and art, boys wait for a long time.

“This is true across the board for teen-agers from all countries: Brazil, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany and other places.”

The students speak English and have their own spending money and insurance. Those interested in participating in the student exchange program, call (714) 362-0810.
