Lockheed Indicted on Influence Charge: Lockheed Corp. and two of its former executives were charged by a federal grand jury in Atlanta with violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the U.S. attorney’s office in Atlanta announced. The indictment alleges that Calabasas-based Lockheed paid a consultant more than $1 million to use her influence with Egyptian officials to help Lockheed sell three C-130 Hercules airplanes to Egypt for $79 million in 1989. Lockheed, whose aircraft manufacturing group is based in Marietta, Ga., said it “emphatically denies the allegations” and plans to “vigorously defend itself against the charges.” The individuals indicted are Allen R. Love, former Marietta-based director of Middle East and North Africa sales, and Suleiman A. Nassar, former regional vice president in Switzerland for Lockheed Corp. International, the office said. Efforts to reach the two for comment were unsuccessful.
