Out with the Carlos Valderrama bright fright wigs, in with the Alexi Lalas look.

Three youths from Portland, Ore., and one from Garden Grove made that World Cup fashion statement before the United States defeated Colombia, 2-1.

Jeff Fletcher, Jeremy Inman and Tom Lathrop of Portland and Micah Fitch of Garden Grove were parading around the Rose Bowl on Wednesday wearing bright frizzy orange wigs with orange goatees.

Hundreds of Colombian fans wore the Valderrama wigs.

“I came to the game last Saturday between Colombia and Romania, and I saw all the Valderrama wigs and I just wanted to get behind the United States,” Fitch said. “Maybe everyone will do it now.”

Said Fletcher: “Alexi is the best. Valderrama? Alexi didn’t lose his first game like (Valderrama) did.”
