ORANGE : Police to Conduct Sobriety Checks

Share

Drivers should be prepared to run into a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in the city beginning at 9 tonight.

Police, who are not disclosing the location, warn that some traffic may be delayed while drivers are checked for signs of drinking.

Officers randomly stop about every 10th car, according to Sheryn Mauerhan of the department’s traffic bureau. Those who fail the field sobriety test, which primarily tests balance and coherence, will be arrested.

The checkpoint program, funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, conducts these random checks on a monthly basis.
