Ion Vladoiu of Romania was suspended for three matches and fined $4,800 by FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee for his vicious sliding tackle of Christophe Ohrel of Switzerland. Vladoiu, a substitute who played three minutes before being ejected, must sit out the United States-Romania game Sunday, as well as two others. If Romania fails to advance in the World Cup, the suspension will include the next Union of European Football Assn. matches.
