CITY ARTS : Eat and Run

Share

On your mark . . . get set . . . eat!

Make a dash for Downtown’s fifth annual Dine-a-Thon on Wednesday at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel and taste more than 30 delicacies from 22 international and American restaurants, cafes and bakeries in the community.

“We’ve asked each restaurant to provide 600 portions of food,” said Karen Williams, event coordinator. “They get pretty generous with what they serve.”

The samplings will include miniature crab cakes from McCormick & Schmick’s, smoked salmon canape and a hot lamb dish from the Tower Restaurant, and assorted pizzas from California Pizza Kitchen. For a more international mix, there will be green corn tamales from El Cholo Restaurant, yakitori chicken from A Thousand Cranes, curry chicken and rice from Epicentre and egg rolls from Mandarin Cove.

Sponsored by Union Bank, the Dine-a-Thon will be followed by the bank’s 10th annual Heart of the City 5K Run, which starts at Figueroa Street between 4th and 5th streets and circles Downtown, then heads back to Figueroa. Proceeds from the events will go to the American Heart Assn. and scholarships for inner-city school students.
