GLENDALE : Scholarships to Be Awarded at Dinner

Flamenco dancers and a folklorico dance troupe are among the attractions at the Glendale Hispanic Business and Professional Assn.’s fourth annual Fiesta Scholarship Dinner to be held Wednesday evening.

Guests will be treated to dinner and Latin music during the event, set to start with a social half-hour at 5:30 p.m. at Casa Adobe de San Raphael, 1330 Dorothy Drive.

Association members will present scholarships to low-income students from Glendale who recently graduated from high school, association spokesman Jose Quintinar said.

Scholarship recipients include Glendale High School graduate Kathryn Ayala, who plans to attend UCLA, and Hoover graduates Susan Zelaya, who plans to study at Cal State Long Beach; Maria Garcia, who will be a freshman at Cal State Los Angeles in the fall, and Daphne Barragan, who will attend Glendale College.

Also receiving scholarships are Mike McCauley, a graduate of Crescenta Valley High who plans to attend Mission College; Barbara Rojas, a graduate of Daily High who will attend Glendale College, and Jose Omar Padilla, a Monroe High School graduate who also plans to attend Glendale College this fall.
