A forgery suspect and a Glendale police officer were cut over the weekend when the suspect attempted to flee from a Glendale bank by crashing through a locked glass door.

Jorj Tahmaseyan, 24, of Glendale was taken to Thompson Memorial Hospital in Burbank after the incident, where he received six stitches on the forehead, said police spokesman Chahe Keuroghelian.

Tahmaseyan’s head was cut after shards of glass crashed around him when he attempted to break down the door, police said.

Glendale Police Agent Keith Soboleski, who was approaching the door, also received stitches at Thompson Memorial Hospital for a gash on his left hand.

The men were injured about 7:30 p.m. Friday after Tahmaseyan tried to cash a stolen $1,200 check using a false driver’s license for identification at the Bank of America branch, 6400 San Fernando Road, police said.

The teller told her supervisor about the suspicious license, and the manager called police, Keuroghelian said.

When Soboleski arrived on the scene, Tahmaseyan tried to escape through the door, which the supervisor had locked to signal the close of the bank’s business day, police said.

Tahmaseyan is being held in Glendale City Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail. He was booked on suspicion of possessing falsified documents and receiving stolen property.
