Football is an irresistible aphrodisiac, it seems, and a baby boom is expected in Ireland in nine months’ time from couples carried away by watching Charlton’s side in action.

In the aftermath of Ireland’s first two World Cup matches, in Dublin up to 100 women more than usual have taken the morning-after birth pill.

The Well Woman Center, which dispenses the pill, has been caught on the hop, and believes that the football might lead to scores of unplanned pregnancies.
