Share

The California Highway Patrol arrested eight people in Ventura County on suspicion of drunk driving during the first 12 hours of the Fourth of July weekend, authorities said Saturday.

The motorists were arrested between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, a CHP spokeswoman said. Although there were several injury accidents during the same period, none were attributed to drunk driving, the spokeswoman said.

The CHP’s maximum enforcement period will end at 6 p.m. Monday, officials said.

A final tally of arrests from the long holiday weekend will be released Tuesday.
