A 66-year-old Moorpark woman was killed in a traffic collision Tuesday morning when she pulled out of her mobile-home park and was struck broadside by a van, police said.

Elinor Foster, a resident of the Villa Del Arroyo Mobile Home Park, was struck about 6:25 a.m. by an oncoming van driven by Charles McLaughlin, 41, of Moorpark.

The van was traveling east on Old Los Angeles Avenue toward Simi Valley, Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Keith Parks said.

“At this juncture, it appears that she pulled out in front of the oncoming van,” Parks said.

But Parks said that an investigation into the accident is continuing and that no arrests have been made.

Traffic on Old Los Angeles Avenue was backed up for three hours as a result of the accident, Parks said.

Parks said Pruner Ambulance and Ventura County Fire Department personnel pulled Foster from her car after the accident. She was pronounced dead at 7:30 a.m. at Simi Valley Hospital.

McLaughlin was taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center in Thousand Oaks with internal injuries and was in stable condition Tuesday, hospital officials said.
