MOORPARK : Resident Named to Defense Department

Share

A Moorpark man has been appointed deputy assistant secretary of defense, officials have announced.

Fred Frostic, 52, a retired Air Force colonel and former Rand Corp. analyst, took his Pentagon post two weeks ago. Reached this weekend, Frostic said he will work for the undersecretary for plans and requirements. In his post, he will review the effectiveness of weapons system purchase by the Department of Defense.

“In the post-Cold War world, there are different types of threats we must prepare for,” Frostic said. “We will look to see that our force size and defense systems will meet those threats.”

Frostic and his wife will rent out their Moorpark home while they live in Washington, he said. He will be one of 60 deputy assistants.

“This is an exciting opportunity for me,” Frostic said. “So far, it’s been a lot of fun.”
