WILMINGTON : Free Child Vaccinations, Lead Testing Available

Share

Free vaccinations and lead testing for children will be offered in Wilmington this month at three health fairs organized by medical students and residents.

The testing is a project of the Department of Family Medicine at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center near Torrance, which offered vaccinations in Wilmington last year.

Free lead screenings for children are being added because many area homes are older and may have been painted with lead-based paint.

Lead screenings, vaccinations and physical examinations are free for children ages 6 and under, and free tetanus vaccines are available for adults.

The health fairs will be held 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Wilmington Fiesta in Banning Park; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 24 at the Holy Family Church, 1122 E. Robidoux St., and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30 at the Dana Strand Community Center.

More information is available from the Wilmington Vaccination and Lead Screening Project, 508 East E St., Wilmington, (310) 830-3401, 830-4254 or 830-4629.
