Several British tabloids have noticed the hair--or lack of it--on the heads of Bulgarian players.
Borislav Mihaylov, the goalkeeper and captain, spent $20,000 on a Paris hair transplant while playing for Mulhouse in the French Second Division, they report. Mihaylov is said to have his personal hairdresser, Romain Steffan, in the United States.
Other commentators pointed to the dramatic header by Yordan Lechkov against Germany and suggested that Lechkov’s baldness may have contributed to his effectiveness in making the goal that beat Germany. He had no hair to get between his skull and the soccer ball, they noted.
