BRIEFLY : Transportation: Free Shuttles in Santa Monica
Shuttle buses are offering free rides between the Santa Monica business district and the MGM Plaza/Water Gardens area and between downtown and the Main Street restaurant and shopping district.
Designed to reduce the hassle of traffic and parking for lunchtime strollers and diners, the east-west line of the Tide Shuttle will serve 10 stops at 20-minute intervals from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. every weekday.
Its electric-powered line will extend from 26th Street to Ocean Avenue along Colorado Avenue and Broadway.
The service’s two-month trial run, which began Monday, is being sponsored by the city, the Central Business District and Southern California Edison.
An additional service funded by the city and Santa Monica Place will connect the shopping center with the Main Street area at 15-minute intervals daily from noon to 10 p.m.
Information on shuttle stops and times: (310) 393-9825.
