CONEJO VALLEY : Lunch Prices Hiked for Public Schools
Lunch prices in Conejo Valley’s public junior high and high schools will increase 25 cents to $2.25, and prices at elementary schools will jump 5 cents to $1.65 for the next school year, the school board has decided.
The board has not raised the cost of school lunches in three years. But a projected shortfall in the food services budget, prompted the board to increase the cost Thursday evening.
The increase will not affect the costs of free or reduced-price meals for low-income students, which are paid for by the federal government.
The Conejo Valley Unified School District intends to offer discounted meal ticket packages to offset the price hike, officials said. A block of 20 tickets for elementary school lunches will cost $30, or $1.50 per meal. Twenty tickets for junior high and high school lunches will cost $40, or $2 per meal.
