Before today’s kickoff, Chris Wentzel, Don Balch and Jeff McVey of the Wings Skydiving Teams will parachute into the Rose Bowl as a finale to the World Cup’s closing ceremony.

Balch, from Hemet, and McVey, from Taft, will carry the Italian and Brazilian flags, respectively, and Wentzel, from North Hollywood, will land last, carrying the game ball.

Meeting a FIFA referee will be a piece of cake after a recent jump.

The three once dropped into ceremonies dressed as Alexis Carrington, the haughty, naughty Joan Collins character from television’s “Dynasty.”

For that jump, they wore evening gowns and were met by Collins.
