SANTA ANA : Public Has Role in Hiring Schools Chief

Share

Santa Ana Unified School District officials are seeking help from the public to find out what qualities, attributes and experience the district’s new superintendent should have, a spokeswoman said.

Community members who wish to respond may attend special meetings on Thursday, call the district with comments or request a questionnaire, district spokeswoman Diane Thomas said.

People who want to meet with the district’s search consultant, Richard Montgomery, should call the district at (714) 558-5515 to schedule an appointment for Thursday. People may use the same phone number to request a survey.

Mailed comments may be sent to Montgomery at district headquarters, 1405 French St., Santa Ana, Calif. 92701.

The search is expected to take about four months, with potential candidates being interviewed about mid-October and a new superintendent being chosen by the end of October, Thomas said.

The Board of Education will fill the vacancy left by Rudy Castruita, who left the district Friday after nine years of service. He is leaving to become the San Diego County superintendent of schools.
