Castaic Prison Escapee Remains at Large
A Van Nuys man convicted of driving under the influence remains at large after apparently scaling a prison fence that had been topped with razor wire.
Max Arroyo, 27, was discovered missing from the Peter J. Pitchess Honor Rancho facility at 5:50 Sunday morning during a routine inmate count, according to Deputy Gabe Ramirez. Arroyo was last accounted for during a similar check at 3 a.m.
Razor wire had been pulled off the top of a nine-foot fence that surrounds the minimum security area where Arroyo was held, Ramirez said.
Arroyo was arrested May 28 and had been scheduled to be released Oct. 9.
