‘Lion’ Vs. ‘Lounge’

The Rolling Stones can’t be too pleased about being beaten out by the soundtrack of a cartoon--”The Lion King”--in their first week on The Times’ Southern California pop album chart. And what may be more aggravating to the rock veterans is that their “Voodoo Lounge” album, which debuted at No. 2, may never chase “Lion King” out of its perch at the top. “Lion King” seems ready to reign for at least another few weeks--when “Voodoo” is at its sales peak. In fact, don’t be surprised if another hot soundtrack--third-ranked “Forrest Gump”--slips past the Stones’ album.
