FOOTBALL / DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE NFL : Simms Insists He’s a Victim
Phil Simms believes the only reason he won’t be quarterbacking the New York Giants this season is the NFL salary cap, regardless of what Commissioner Paul Tagliabue says.
“I was coming off a Pro Bowl year, I had a great season, but I had a high salary and then I was let go suddenly,” Simms told the New York Times. “How can you say that it had nothing to do with the salary cap when it had everything to do with it?”
Tagliabue has said the salary cap wasn’t a factor.
