Charity: Thrift Shop for AIDS Group to Open

Share

Thrift shoppers in the Fairfax District will have a new place to visit next week: The Out of the Closet Thrift Store will open its doors on Tuesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Like its sister store in Atwater Village, all proceeds go to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation, the largest provider of HIV medical care in California.

Merchandise will range from run-of-the-mill, secondhand items to boutique-style goods.

Keith Malone, spokesman for AIDS Healthcare Foundation, said thrift stores have been good fund-raising sources, generating roughly $100,000 a year. “We have had a lot of success with the Atwater store and now we’re happy to provide services for Westside shoppers.”
