Reception to Salute Fair’s Volunteers

Volunteers who have been essential to staging the Ventura County Fair every year over the past four decades will be honored at a reception Saturday at the Ventura County Fairgrounds.

The reception at the Agriculture Building from 2 to 4 p.m. will be free of charge to the volunteers and to those who would like to volunteer, said spokeswoman Teri Raley.

“We urge anyone who has an interest in the fair to come to the reception,” Raley said. “Although we have about 2,000 volunteers, we still need more.” Volunteers who have been part of the large cadre for 30 or 40 years will receive give certificates, pins and gifts, she said.

“We have an especially large and active group of volunteers,” Raley said. “The celebration will be like a high school reunion.”
