Preserving Wetlands
Recently I took my three children on a field trip to the Ormond Beach wetlands. The children are learning about California least terns, snowy plovers, red-necked stilts, black-ring necks, brown pelicans and the many other varieties of wildlife that inhabit the Ormond/Hueneme Beach area.
I would like to ensure that this will be here for my children to show their children. It is a quiet spot in a hectic world, where one can slow down, learn and seek to live alongside nature.
Couldn’t this area be developed into a children’s park and nature area/educational center? I can envision a boardwalk with benches and railings, informational panels to educate and perhaps binoculars to allow close-up viewing of the wildlife. I think there is a wonderful opportunity being missed here.
