SAN DIMAS : Bride, Groom Plunge Into Marriage on Water Slide

Share

When Carla Lambert and Sean Raymond got married last weekend, they really took the plunge--270 feet.

Actually, they took The Vortex, spiraling twin water slides complete with fog, wind and pulsing lights at Raging Waters theme park. “We just wanted to have a really fun wedding,” said the 40-year-old groom. “We didn’t want to do the traditional boring thing on a Sunday afternoon.”

Instead of “The Wedding March,” the couple heard Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” as they completed their vows and swirled into a swimming pool lined with cheering guests.

The bride wore a green bathing suit and leggings. The groom wore white trunks, a flowery multicolored shirt and a green bow tie around his bare neck.

The couple said their real rings were being re-sized, so they used substitutes. She got a plastic spider ring, and his wedding band bore a skull.

“I’ve done outdoor weddings and weddings by the pool, but never a water-slide wedding,” said Riverside pastor Bob Probert.

The bride said she and Raymond had formal weddings before and wanted to try something different.

“Why not?” she said. “Why do what everyone does all over?”

The wedding party included their children, Raymond’s daughter Kira, 11, and son Wesley, 9, and Lambert’s son, Logan, 12.
