Suns Sign Green and No. 1 Draft Pick
The Phoenix Suns signed forward A.C. Green to a five-year contract Tuesday and announced that rookie guard Wesley Person, a first-round pick from Auburn, has agreed to a four-year contract. Terms of the deals were not released.
Green, 30, had been considering exercising an escape clause in the five-year, $15-million contract he signed with Phoenix last summer after eight seasons with the Lakers. It gave him the option of canceling the deal after one season and signing with another team as an unrestricted free agent.
“A lot of people would say A.C. Green was the most valuable player on our roster last year,” Phoenix President Jerry Colangelo said. “We got more than our money’s worth.”
