U.S. Auto Makers Seek Japanese Loans: The Big Three auto makers have asked for low-interest loans from the Export-Import Bank of Japan, a Ministry of International Trade and Industry official said. The official said the bank has not decided whether to provide the funds. The Nihon Keizai Shimbun financial daily said Ford Motor Co. is negotiating for a capital investment loan of more than $300 million, to be used to produce right-hand-drive vehicles for Japan. General Motors Corp. and Chrysler Corp. said they have held discussions about low-interest loans.
