VENTURA : Bus Drivers Match Maneuvering Skills
It’s just a little friendly competition among bus drivers--a chance to test their skills at maneuvering a 35-foot bus through an obstacle course in record time.
Twenty South Coast Area Transit bus drivers will participate in the eighth annual Bus Roadeo, which gets under way at 9 a.m. today in the parking lot of San Buenaventura State Beach.
The drivers will be rated on their ability to maneuver a bus through a specially designed obstacle course during a timed race. They will also be required to take written tests and perform routine safety checks of their vehicles.
The winner of the SCAT Roadeo will travel to Boston in September to compete against drivers from across the United States and Canada.
