DURBAN, South Africa —
Gunmen shot dead at least five people in violence linked to a controversial TV drama implicating Zulu nationalists in a campaign of violence against rivals, police and human rights officials said.
The killings coincided with the television broadcast Saturday night of “The Line,” which depicted the effects of political violence on black train commuters and blames Zulu nationalists for attacking trains.
Police said the killings occurred in three incidents in the black township of Ezikhaweni, 90 miles north of Durban.
