Something for the Kids: Speaking of hotels, some of the county’s most venerable business institutions are becoming more, well, kid friendly.

The Anaheim Hilton, which is one of the largest convention hotels in the county and part of the complex that includes the Anaheim Convention Center, has initiated a program aimed at attracting more families.

Called “the Vacation Station,” it includes everything from rewarding the tykes with giant chocolate chip cookies and a glass of milk in the Cafe Oasis, giving behind-the-scene tours of kitchens, ballrooms and the laundry and even a roam-around costumed mascot named Freddie the Dinosaur.

Given that the hotel is across Katella Avenue from Disneyland, kids aged 5 to 12 can watch a Disney movie that screens every afternoon at 5 p.m.

“We want guests to check out with so many good memories they can’t wait to come back,” Hilton General Manager Glenn Hale said.
