Three men pretending to be customers at the Cabrillo Cooperative Store in Ventura pulled out guns and a knife and robbed the store of more than $20,000 in cash and merchandise Tuesday, officials said.

After spending a few minutes browsing in the community store in Cabrillo Village on Saticoy Avenue, one of the men stepped behind the counter, pulled out a knife and grabbed the store’s 24-year-old clerk, according to Ventura County sheriff’s officials.

As he held the woman at knifepoint, two other men armed with guns raided a display case filled with what store officials said was more than $20,000 worth of watches and jewelry.

The three men then grabbed $600 in cash from the store’s cash register and fled in a blue van, officials said.

A sheriff’s spokesman said the suspects were still at large late Tuesday.
