Police have arrested two people in connection with the fatal shooting Monday of a Buena Park man outside his home near Knott’s Berry Farm.

Sylvia Denise Gutierrez, 31, of Norwalk, was being held on suspicion of murder along with her brother, Vincent Albert Gutierrez, 32, of La Mirada, police said. Authorities on Tuesday were searching for a third person also believed to have been arguing with the victim, 30-year-old Arturo Macias.

“They were all arguing with (Macias) before the shooting,” Lt. Mike Schwartz said. He did not disclose details of the argument, which neighbors reported overhearing before the 2:40 a.m. shooting next to a Knott’s Berry Farm parking lot on Crescent Avenue. Schwartz said it was “some sort of personal dispute.”

Schwartz said the third suspect may have been in a white van that witnesses saw leaving the scene.

Schwartz said Sylvia Gutierrez was a friend of Macias’ live-in girlfriend, who he said witnessed the confrontation but was not involved. The girlfriend, whose name was not released, was heard screaming in the street after the shooting.

Neighbors said they heard an argument that began at the Macias home and then continued outside. One neighbor said he heard a barrage of about six shots, then a pause followed by two or three more shots. Macias was struck in the head and chest and later pronounced dead at West Anaheim Medical Center.

Sylvia Gutierrez was being held at Central Women’s Jail in Santa Ana. Vincent Gutierrez was being held at the Buena Park Police Department’s jail facility. Bond was set at $250,000 each.
