A Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy who was believed to have committed suicide was actually a homicide victim, and the slain deputy’s roommate has been charged with the killing, authorities said Wednesday.
Margarita Rodriguez, 40, pleaded not guilty in Municipal Court Tuesday to fatally shooting Deputy Lori Anderson, 27, at their Fairfax District apartment on July 25. Rodriguez is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.
Rodriguez was arrested Friday, said Los Angeles Police Detective Lloyd Parry. He said the shooting grew out of a dispute between the women.
