ROLLER HOCKEY : Blades Take Charge Early, Win, 8-5
- Share via
The L.A. Blades, whose habit has been to give up early leads and fight back, got their defense in gear early in an 8-5 victory over the Anaheim Bullfrogs Wednesday at the Forum.
The Blades held off the Bullfrogs for 21 seconds of a 4-on-2 power play early in the first quarter, and the momentum of that defensive stand led to goals 11 seconds apart from Mike Callahan and Brett Kurtz for a 2-0 lead that later became 5-0.
Blade goalie Max Mikhailovsky, pulled against Las Vegas when ineffective a week ago, made 46 saves. Averaging 33.9 saves a game, he had 25 by halftime in front of 4,891.
The victory puts the first-place Blades (15-4) two games ahead of second-place Anaheim (12-5) in the Roller Hockey International Pacific Division.
