Rockwell International Corp.: The company said that it, along with Hughes Aircraft Corp. and a Russian research and development institute, won a $4.7-million contract to help Russia modernize its air traffic management system by using satellites.

Seal Beach-based Rockwell and General Motors Corp.’s Hughes Aircraft unit will provide business training, technology and products for Russia to use in its air traffic management system.

The contract was awarded by the Defense Nuclear Agency under a U.S. Department of Defense program to assist selected Russian enterprises in converting their industrial capacity from building weapons to commercial enterprise.
