World IN BRIEF : RUSSIA : Conflicting Accounts on Fatal Plane Crash

From Times Staff and Wire Services

But other officials gave different accounts, including that the pilot failed to see a hill and that an engine caught fire. The crash in Bada reinforced concerns about the safety of air travel in Russia, where more than 270 people have died in accidents this year.
