BRIEFLY : Child Care: YMCA Opens Corporate Facility
The YMCA opened its first corporate child care facility in the South Bay this month at the TRW Data Technology Division in Carson.
The Gardena/Carson YMCA will operate the preschool for children ages 2 to 5 whose parents work at TRW.
The school has about 2,000 square feet of space, including an outdoor play area and two classrooms. Currently 16 children attend, but the school can accommodate up to 50. It is open from 6:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
TRW provided the facility on its property and the YMCA operates it on a contract. Tuition of $80 a week, paid by the families, covers the costs of operation, YMCA officials said.
The YMCA will probably participate in more corporate child care centers because other companies in the South Bay have expressed interest in having quality child care available to their employees, said YMCA spokesman George Saikali.
