Toys R Us to Open 100 New Stores: The Paramus, N.J.-based retailer said about 40 of the stores will be in the United States and about 60 will be overseas, including its first in Denmark, Sweden and Luxembourg. The Kids R Us division plans to open six stores in 1994 and has closed 16 of the 20 stores it had expected to close this year, the company said. The company announced a profit of $38 million for the second quarter ended July 30, up from $35.5 million for that quarter in 1993. Sales rose 10% to $1.452 billion from $1.317 billion. Toys R Us said it has repurchased more than 5.6 million shares as part of a $1-billion stock repurchase program.
