GARDEN GROVE : Cable TV Station in Awards Contest

The local cable television station has been nominated for two awards in government programming by a national organization of public information officers.

The National Assn. of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors nominated Garden Grove Cable Television Corp. for awards in documentary and news series.

“Girls Club: a Special Report,” which profiled the Garden Grove Girls Club, was nominated for best documentary, and “This Week in Garden Grove,” a weekly program about events happening in the city, was nominated for best news series.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony Sept. 21 in Reno, Nev.

Last year, Garden Grove Cable Television won first place for best news series and second place in the special audience category for a piece on disabled people.
