COMPANY TOWN ANNEX
NBC Buys Salt Lake City TV Station: The network has agreed to purchase its Salt Lake City affiliate, KUTV, from a New York-based group controlled by investment bankers Veronis Suhler & Associates. The purchase is the latest move among all four broadcast networks trying to get greater control over their local outlets in the wake of a series of affiliate switches. Supported by a robust local economy, Salt Lake City is one of the fastest-growing TV markets in the country. NBC already owns six other TV stations, including KNBC-TV in Los Angeles. The deal is subject to Federal Communications Commission approval. Terms weren’t disclosed, but industry experts put the purchase price at about $100 million.
