Deadline Nears for Nissan Van Buyback: The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reminded owners of 1987-90 Nissan minivans that Saturday is the last day Nissan will buy back models recalled because of engine compartment fires. It said only about 58% of the some 30,000 owners of the vans recalled Feb. 3 had responded, with 18,200 asking for buybacks and 123 for inspections and repairs. The NHTSA said Nissan has agreed to buy back the minivans through Saturday, although the repair offer under the agency’s recall is open indefinitely.
