Officials at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation announced Wednesday that it has named a former Pepperdine University official to become its new deputy director and director of finance.

Larry G. Bumgardner, a former associate vice chancellor at Pepperdine, has taken over the financial post at the foundation soon after the launch of a $20-million “Legacy Campaign” to support programs at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Center for Public Affairs.

Bumgardner, 37, of Thousand Oaks, worked 11 years in fund raising and public relations at Pepperdine. He also served as an assistant professor of communication and adjunct professor of law there and will continue to teach there on a part-time basis.

A graduate of David Lipscomb University and the Vanderbilt School of Law in Nashville, Tenn., Bumgardner was a reporter and copy editor at the Nashville Banner before moving to Pepperdine in 1983.

The Legacy Campaign’s goal is to raise $20 million for new permanent and temporary museum exhibits at the Reagan library and to endow conferences, lectures, research and other programs.
