VENTURA : 2 Critically Injured in Brawl at Party
A birthday party brawl that broke out early Saturday morning in the 200 block of Bard Lane just outside the Ventura city limits left two young men in critical condition and three others slightly injured, a Ventura County Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
The fight started about 1 a.m. after youths from the Ventura Avenue area crashed the party, the spokesman said. Police estimate that more than 50 youths at the scene participated in the fight using bricks, clubs and other weapons.
Gerardo Hernandez, 18, of Ventura and Luis Rodriguez, 15, of Oxnard were listed in critical condition with head injuries at Ventura County Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said. Juan Rodriguez, 19; Oscar Ponce, 23, and Ricardo Vasquez, 18, all of Oxnard, were treated for minor injuries and released, the spokeswoman said.
No arrests have been made, the Sheriff’s Department spokesman said.
